Quality Systems
We realize system furniture is an investment which is why we only remanufacture genuine Herman Miller AO2 systems furniture. Just like the original our products are built to stand the test of time. HMU provides our customers with only original remanufactured Herman Miller AO2 product or product manufactured to the same specifications. All of our new and remanufactured system products are covered by a 10 year warranty.
Metal Components
Shelves, connectors and rails are pre-washed, powder coated and cured at 400° F.
Fabric
New fabric is applied using stretching machines. We use UL approved panel fabric that has passed fire tests, whereas many imports do not meet US standards.
Panels
Panels are completed with new top caps, base covers and power. HMU is a UL approved facility, we don’t just attach UL approved power we provide the entire panel as a UL approved component.
Work Surfaces
We use new work surfaces, cantilevers and hardware. 2 mm edging applied in the same manner as the original manufacturer.
Accessories
Pedestals are new and BIFMA approved. Universal lock cores for ease in matching lock numbers.
Stability
Our 10 acre complex includes 130,000 square feet of manufacturing, shipping and administration buildings. In addition we have a 90,000 square foot facility for receiving and production prep.
We stock over 85,000 panel blanks.
HMU has invested over $2 million in manufacturing equipment including woodworking equipment, paint lines, fabric stretching machines and packaging.
Our top four managers have a combined 75 years of experience in the office furniture business.

Many of our panel fabrics are made 100% from recycled plastic bottles.
We use VOC-free powder coat paint and reclaim 75% of the paint used.
Fabric waste is bailed and recycled as fire retardant for automobiles.
Wood waste is sent to Virginia’s only LEED certified landfill. There it is crushed, mixed with shredded tires and used as road bed.
Steel and cardboard waste is sold to our recycler and the proceeds are given to our employees as a Christmas bonus.
Aluminum and plastic stretch wrap is separated and sent to our recycler.
Used light bulbs from task lights are separated and sent to our recycler for proper disposal.
We use recycled pallets or pallets made from recycled cardboard.
Clean wood waste is burned in our biomass oven to heat our manufacturing facility and reduce our need for natural gas.
